Entertainer John Barrowman has announced the cancellation of his 2023 tour because of "slow" ticket sales. In an official statement, the Torchwood star said the decision had not been taken lightly and described himself as "devastated".
He also said that he had been experiencing "the hardest few years of my life".
The 55-year-old had been due to embark on a tour next year, following the release of his album Centre Stage., which featured some of his "personal favourites" from musical theatre.
But in a statement on his official site, the star, who lived in south Wales while filming Torchwood, said: "It is with huge regret that we have decided to cancel the UK tour. Unfortunately, ticket sales in certain parts of the UK have been slow, and with the increased costs of touring it is no longer economically viable to continue.
"This is a decision that has not been taken lightly, and I know many of my fans will be very upset, as am I. Personally I am devastated and like many people I have found the last years extremely difficult, possibly the hardest few years of my life. When it gets tough it is sometimes better to stop and re-evaluate and that is exactly what I am going to do.
I am so sorry to all my fans."
Last week , his Torchwood co-star Eve Myles addressed a public Twitter spat between her John for the first time. He publicly criticised Myles for "spewing rhetoric" in response to a video of the pair gushing how much they cared for one other. After making the comments, Barrowman left Twitter and now Myles has issued a statement.
She said: "Hello. John & I have talked & all is fine. We loved working together & given the opportunity we would jump back into Gwen & Jack tomorrow! Please can the hating stop. It’s so upsetting. Please! Also nobody has approached me for a reboot, sorry to say. Have a peaceful Xmas all."
