Joe Flacco’s career resurgence was something many NFL fans didn’t expect at the beginning of this season.
After starting the season on his couch, the quarterback has led the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs thanks to his 4–1 record through the last five games of the season.
The 38-year-old quarterback has won a Super Bowl before with AFC North rival the Baltimore Ravens back in the 2012 season, so he knows what it takes to lead a championship team.
As it turns out, winning playoff football games is less complicated than you might think.
“Everybody puts so much thought into what it takes to win these games and it’s doing the simple things the best you can and just playing good fundamental football,” Flacco said, via Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. “And this is the time of the year where that stuff shows up. Obviously there’s going to be plays made and guys are going to make a name for themselves, something’s going to happen over the next five weeks that we’re going to remember forever, and those are the things that you kind of see.
“But it’s just about playing fundamental, physical football and playing a full 60 minutes. And no matter what’s going on at the moment, being able to keep the blinders on and keep moving forward.”
Flacco and the Browns will have a chance to make a name for themselves this season, should they be able to ride Flacco to another wave of playoff success. It all starts on Saturday when they face the Houston Texans in the wild-card round.
