Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was not buying Tom Brady’s supposed retirement. And with hindsight, he clearly had good reason to be skeptical. Brady retired then unretired in a span of weeks.
For many, it was a wild ride. For Burrow, it was apparently unsurprisingly.
“I mean, did anyone actually think he was going to stay retired?” Burrow asked. “You should know better than that, … He’s playing way too well to retire right now. … I think he wanted to shut down the conversation because if he didn’t announce his retirement, everyone would be talking about, ‘Is he retiring? Is he not retiring?’ Because he went out and did it, it got everyone off his back so he can think about it.”

That’s an interesting theory. It seems like a stretch to me.
