Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has consistently made a public push for two bye weeks if the NFL ends up going to an 18-game schedule.
Burrow last talked about this idea in May, which came up because of the rare rest issues the team faces due to next season’s schedule.
Now the superstar passer has brought it up again during an appearance on the “Pardon My Take” podcast, pointing out that the NFL could emulate another sport by giving the entire league a week off around Week 13 — echoing something like the NBA All-Star weekend.
Given the inevitability of an 18-game season, something similar could indeed be an idea the league considers.
And the take has Burrow earning plenty of praise from onlookers on social media:
Literally nothing but positives. Players get another bye week, the Pro Bowl isn’t an afterthought, and we have a country-wide day off the day after the Super Bowl.
