In-demand Joe Aribo looks to be edging closer to a Rangers exit after Ibrox chiefs reportedly entered talks with the English Premier League side over a move.
Record Sport revealed that Ralf Hassenhuttl’s side had emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign Rangers contract rebel with the club weighing up a move for the playmaker. The midfield playmaker is in the final 12 months of his deal and Ibrox chiefs face a huge call this summer as they consider whether to keep him or cash in now.
Reports have suggested Aribo has turned down a deal in the midst of St Mary’s higher-ups weighing up a deal for the £300,000 recruit from Charlton. Crystal Palace, Fulham and Nottingham Forest have been previously linked with the 25-year-old Nigeria international but Southampton have reportedly entered into formal talks over a move that would take the Rangers star to the English Premier League.
The Athletic state the clubs are now working to agree a fee, with the report suggesting there is £10million release clause in Aribo's contract. It is noted that the Europa League finalists will not accept a total package below that value.
It is stated that another English Premier League side are also considering a move. The report notes Aribo wants the situation to be dealt with amicably, with Southampton preparing a four-year deal.
