Jim Goodwin bumper SFA ban double standard claim as unpunished Robbie Neilson 'cheat' rant flagged for Aberdeen appeal

Aberdeen fans have urged Pittodrie bosses to use Robbie Neilson's "blatant cheating" rant on Lewis Ferguson as part of the bid to appeal Jim Goodwin 's eight game sanction.

The Aberdeen boss was hit with a bumper ban from the Hampden chiefs for “making comments of a discriminatory or offensive nature” about Ryan Porteous after the fiery encounter at Easter Road, with Aberdeen quickly stating they are to appeal the ruling. Goodwin was furious after referee David Dickinson awarded Hibs a first half spot kick after Ryan Porteous went down in the box in a tangle with Liam Scales, which led to the Celtic loanee receiving his second booking of the game.

After the full-time whistle Goodwin unleashed on the Scotland cap stating: "People will say he’s good at it and he’s clever. But it’s blatant cheating as far as I’m concerned and it’s cost my team points." However, Dons' supporters insisted the comments were almost identical to comments made by Hearts boss Neilson about former Pittodrie star Ferguson.

Back in March Ferguson went down under pressure in the box to win a penalty at Tynecastle. The decision left Neilson fuming as he stated: "It would have been a travesty if Aberdeen had scored from the dive.

"Aberdeen created nothing in the game apart from someone diving to try and get a penalty. Thankfully it didn't cost us because if they get that goal from the penalty it totally changes the dynamic of the game. They could go and get something out the game after blatant cheating."

On Twitter, one Aberdeen fan stated: "If I was Dave Cormack I'd be downloading the Robbie Neilson/Lewis Ferguson footage and marching straight to Hampden. Absolute farce."

Another chimed in: " Robbie Neilson called Lewis Ferguson a cheat in March - No punishment. Jim Goodwin called Ryan Porteous a cheat a few weeks ago - 8 game ban."
