Jill Scott was stunned and overwhelmed live on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, when she was presented with a statue in her honour, right next to the iconic Angel of the North. And the presentation happened, just as it was confirmed that she'd landed a key ITV role for the Women's World Cup.
Sunderland born star Jill had two massive reasons to celebrate in 2022, firstly with England's Lionesses winning the Euros, after a thrilling final clash in front of home fans at Wembley and then again months later, when she was the landslide winner of the last series of I'm A Celebrity, becoming the ITV show's Queen of the Jungle.
Since then, Jill has done some football commentary for various channels, been a Guest Announcer alongside Ant and Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway and captained England in Soccer aid. And now the former Sunderland and Manchester City player has her very own statue, with it revealed to her for the first time live on GMB.

With no clue what to expect, Jill was made to wear a blindfold by producers before the big unveiling, right next to the Angel of the North in Gateshead..
On seeing it for the first time, she exclaimed: "Wow. I can’t believe it. Only important people get statues! It looks incredible. It’s such a proud moment to be back in the North East. To look at a statue like this - I’ve got goosebumps! It’s such a special moment to be here today.”
As well as being presented with a statue in her honour, it was also announced on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain that Jill will be the face of the ITV breakfast show's coverage of the upcoming Women's World Cup, as well as becoming a captain on hit Sky show League of Their Own.
Talking about her new GMB role for the World Cup, Jill added: "The fans were the reason that we brought that Euros trophy home [last year] so I really feel like the fans can make the difference. So with the time difference, hopefully I can provide a little bit of a connection and a good relationship between the fans and the players.”
