The Miami Dolphins made a splash move this offseason, trading five draft picks to the Kansas City Chiefs for wide receiver Tyreek Hill before giving him a contract extension worth $30 million per year.
Hill’s addition to the offense was expected to make things easier on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and open up things for the rest of the unit. That includes second-year wideout Jaylen Waddle, who broke the NFL’s rookie receptions record in 2021.
Through nine games this season, the pair, affectionately nicknamed “The Blur Brothers,” has been on fire, recording 123 receptions for 1,916 yards and nine touchdowns.
Hill is on an impressive pace this season, as he’s currently set to break the league’s receiving yards record of 1,964 which was set by Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson back in 2012.
With so many talented wide receiver duos in the league, there will always be discussions regarding which team boasts the best. Miami’s is talented, but do they top A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in Philadelphia, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in Cincinnati or Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in Tampa Bay, when healthy?
Late last week, on “The Jim Rome Show,” Dolphins safety Jevon Holland gave his take on where Waddle and Hill stand in relation to other pairs in the NFL.
It’s hard to argue with Holland’s logic. At the very least, Hill and Waddle have been the most productive to this point.
