Jets hiring Titans’ Tony Dews as next RBs coach

After serving as a coach on the Tennessee Titans’ staff for six years, tight ends coach Tony Dews is moving on to another team.

According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the New York Jets are hiring Dews as their next running backs coach. He is the first coach from former head coach Mike Vrabel’s staff to take a job elsewhere.

In New York, Dews will be reunited with a pair of former Titans coaches, including Keith Carter (offensive line coach) and Todd Downing (passing-game coordinator).

Dews served as the Titans’ running backs coach for five seasons before he was moved to tight ends in 2023.

Prior to his stint in Nashville, Dews had two decades of coaching experience in college, where he worked with several positions, including defensive line, offensive line, defensive backs, tight ends, linebackers, running backs and wide receivers. He also coached special teams.

Dews isn’t the only Titans coach to receive interest elsewhere, as defensive coordinator Shane Bowen and defensive backs coach Chris Harris both had defensive coordinator interviews, and outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow got a look for a defensive line job.
