On an emotional night at MetLife Stadium on Monday where the Jets likely lost starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the season, New York picked up a huge overtime victory over the division rival Bills.
Undrafted free agent Xavier Gipson returned a punt 65 yards for the game-winning touchdown, and his electrifying play had All-Pro defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, who spoke with NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo after the game, very excited.
“I’m super excited,” Williams exclaimed. “That was a f------ undrafted free agent who worked his f—ing ass off to be who he is. He made the f—ing team and you see the electrifying speed and the stuff he just did. It’s crazy bro.”
Gipson wasn’t the only player who Williams praised after the game. He also gave plenty of love to quarterback Zach Wilson for stepping into a tough situation and pulling through to help the team to a win.
“Man, he’s amazing! He’s been amazing. He’s a great quarterback. In my eyes he’s done the things this offseason to learn from A-Rod, to do the things he needed to do to put on the performance. He got in there, took some hits, but stuck in there, threw a beautiful touchdown. … It’s one of those games to beat great teams like Buffalo, man, you’ve got to have all phases … special teams, defense and offense had to do their job today.”
