Want to add the Hollywood touch to your wardrobe? Well, Jessica Chastain — the fiery-haired Academy Award winning actor and December 1 ES Magazine cover star — has put her wardrobe up for sale.
In a charity partnership with second hand marketplace Vestiaire Collective, Chastain has listed a host of key garments from her rolodex of favourite luxury brands, as seen both on and off red carpets. Star items include the white Carolina Herrera dress worn to the New York premiere of The Good Nurse (£542) in October 2022, a Dries van Noten velvet burgundy dress she wore on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (£450) in January last year, as well as a statement Ralph Lauren black gown and ivory satin tie worn to the Tribeca Film Festival (£815) in June 2022. All net proceeds from the sale will be donated to Women for Women International.
Chastain’s signature look has been a joint effort between herself and celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart, with whom she has worked for 14 years. Naturally, Stewart (whose other clients count Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and Viola Davis) leant a helping hand in selecting what to put up for sale. “Jessica is effortlessly glamorous. On the red carpet she embodies the quintessential classic Hollywood movie star. She loves a perfect pantsuit or jumpsuit for the day and loves to incorporate vintage pieces throughout her personal wardrobe,” Stewart tells The Standard.
Her most historical suggestion from the sale is a velvet blue Givenchy dress (£359) Chastain wore in Toronto in 2015. “It marked the beginning of her relationship with [designer] Riccardo Tisci — they went on to become very good friends, and had many red carpet collaborations,” says Stewart. Another top pick is the the pink Off-White suit (£715), which Stewart thinks is most Chastain. “It’s femininity with a twist — it’s also very special to us because it was designed by [the late] Virgil [Abloh].”
“I’ve worn these pieces during significant moments in my life and I appreciate the craftsmanship that went into making them. I hope others will enjoy these pieces as much as I have,” Chastain said in a statement.
For anyone after a piece of Chastian on a shoe string, an array of sunglasses are listed from £150, while a turquoise Roksanda dress is up for a respectable £177. At the top end, a black gown from Cong Tri, worn in Marrakesh last November, is yours for £1900. Be fast — fans will not hang around snapping up pieces for the famously elegant dresser.
