Jermain Defoe's heartbroken ex has claimed her marriage to the former Rangers star ended after he cheated on her.
Glasgow beautician Donna Tierney, 40, wed the ex-striker, 39, in a lavish £200,000 wedding ceremony in June 2022 after just one year of dating. But their romance was dogged by claims of an affair just one month after they tied the knot.
The mother-of-one has now confirmed the pair have recently separated and admitted it is 'still very raw'.
In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: "Truth be told it’s been the hardest time of my life, my heart was broken which was extremely difficult for me to deal with without having something that is so pure and real to me publicly devalued and disrespected on so many levels, which inevitably broke me."
"My love for Jermain, our vows and our marriage was 100% real to both of us.
"I was a devoted wife, but it takes two people to make a marriage work, no less, no more and his infidelity eventually broke our marriage."
Referring to another woman she added: "The truth is she wasn't dating, she was having an affair with a married man, my husband.
"My heart will forever remain pure. Jermain's had an exceptional playing career, and I pray he gets the career he deserves in the next chapter of his life."
Jermain and Donna first met in January 2021 at a charity do when the England-ace was playing for Rangers FC. Just seven months later he proposed at a £2,500-a-night Glasgow hotel.
Weeks after the couple's wedding ceremony, an unnamed nurse claimed Defoe had begged her for sex.
The duo last shared pictures together on social media in October last year and Tierney returned to using her maiden name online amid a rumoured split.
Defoe has recently been spotted with his rumoured new girlfriend, influencer Alisha Lemay, 31.
The Daily Record contacted Defoe's agent for comment.
