Jenny Ryan splits Masked Singer panel after she's rumbled by audience as tour comes to Newcastle

Jenny Ryan split the panel before being unmasked as Baby Dino as The Masked Singer tour arrived in Newcastle.

The unlikely TV phenomenon has been the show that's had the country talking since it’s debut at the start of 2020. And, after Natalie Imbruglia won series 3 this year, a whole host of characters from the ITV programme have hit the road to entertain packed audiences across the land.

While Natalie and other celebs from the first three series of The Masked Singer weren’t there, their aliases were, meaning a Utilita Arena full of families got to enjoy performances from the likes of Panda, Traffic Cone, Badger and Dragon.

There was some guessing to be done from the crowd and the panel as to who the stars were inside the Baby Dino and Space Pug costumes. And panellists Denise Van Outen, Aston Merrygold and Scarlett Moffatt all had differing opinions as to who the dinosaur.

A clue about the celeb being famous for their ‘goodbyes,’ made Aston’s mind up that it was Anne Robinson while a clue about ‘always being out,’ left Denise convinced it was Deborah Meaden. After a member of the crowd told host Joel Dommett they thought it was Jenny Ryan from The Chase, Scarlett agreed, especially a clue about her being ‘foxy,’ - a clear nod to her being The Vixen on the ITV quiz show.

Other big giveaways were a tube map with High Barnet marked - a nod to Jenny’s big hair and her voice helping her make a final - a reference to her making the finale of X Factor Celebrity in 2019. After taking her mask off, Jenny sang Jess Glynne’s Hold My Hand for a second time, with the panel all praising her vocals.

The other star to be unmasked live on stage in Newcastle was TV medic Doctor Ranj. Audience members quickly rumbled him as Space Pug, with his identity given away when he said he’d had a shower ‘this morning,’ a clear clue to him being a regular on the ITV daytime show of the same name.
