JANEY Godley’s daughter has posted a tribute online saying her mum went “peacefully” and that she “felt” all the love and support that was sent to her by fans.
The Scottish comedian died on Saturday morning at the age of 63 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
Godley had recently announced that she was receiving palliative care and would be moving into a hospice.
Her daughter, Ashley Storrie, posted a short video on social media confirming Godley had died surrounded by her “found family”.
In the brief one-and-a-half-minute clip Storrie said she believed in her “heart of hearts” the author “felt every bit of love” she was sent by supportive fans and that she kept going for longer because of it.
Storrie said: “Hello friends, my mum Janey Godley died this morning at about 7am.
“She was with friends and family and I wanted to tell you face to face because it felt very much what she would have wanted.
“She went peacefully, and I want to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and a big thank you to mums found family who were around her throughout these last horrible days.”
Earlier this morning Janey passed away in her sleep. Her family were with her. The love and support from all her friends and fans during this cancer journey brought her enormous joy. It has also been a huge comfort to us, her family and close friends, thank you. pic.twitter.com/r6cpoGjuR4

Storrie then went on to name several family members who were beside Godley when she passed this morning.
“Thank you for being there and making a very scary moment peaceful and a nice transition,” she said.
“I want to thank all of you for all of your kindness and your support and I believe in my heart of hearts that she felt every bit of love you sent her, and I think it kept her going.
“I think it genuinely, we got her longer because of all of the support and love in the world, but that’s it. “It’s over now.
“So, thank you once again, and bye ma. Frank get the door.”
The comedian found viral fame with her dubbed parodies of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news briefings during the pandemic, with most of them ending with the catchphrase “Frank, get the door”.
Frank Get The Door! ma feet are KILLIN me, was also the title of Godley’s 2020 book.
