Outspoken Jamie O'Hara has told Celtic fans that Ange Postecoglou is about to "drop them like a stone" for Tottenham - because nobody cares about Scottish football.
The 57-year-old is expected to take on the job in north London with Tottenham chief Daniel Levy set to move quickly to bring the Australian to the English Premier League after he led Celtic to Scottish Cup glory and a Treble this season. The celebrations around Glasgow's east end were tinged with disappointment as all-conquering Postecoglou looks destined to be named Antonio Conte’s successor rather than staying at Celtic Park for another shot at the Champions League group stage next term.
Former Spurs star O'Hara wrote off the achievements of Postecoglou - who has lifted five trophies in his two years in Scotland - as well as their spot in Europe's elite competition next term. Despite Tottenham having no European football next term after an eighth place finish he reckons the English top flight is far more attractive to the boss this summer.
He told Grosvenor Sport: "Celtic fans can say they are the bigger club and all this nonsense but it’s the Premier League. Postecoglou will jump ship as soon as he gets the opportunity to go to a huge club in the Premier League and that is what is going to happen.
"Yeah, he might be in the Champions League and yeah he might win trophies up in Scotland but no one really cares do they? That is where the money is, that is where the exposure is.
"Ange will drop them like a stone if he thinks he can get the Tottenham job. If he does he will be saying to them I want out and I want to go to Tottenham."
Should Postecoglou make the move he will be leaving an adoring Celtic fan base behind for a sceptical Spurs' support. There has been angry reactions online to reports of the appointment - with some attempting to protest against the Tottenham hierarchy.
However, O'Hara urged the punters to give the incoming boss a chance. The pundit said: I think Postecoglou would actually be a good signing for Spurs.
"Everyone up in Scotland says he has been brilliant for Celtic so I look at it and think he could be a top class manager for Tottenham. I’m not sure Spurs fans are too keen on it.
"It feels like the fifth or sixth manager we are trying to get, so Spurs fans are going ‘do you want him or is it because you can’t get anyone else - but I think given the opportunity he will do well. We have had Conte, we have had Mourinho, we have had top managers in the past and it ain’t worked out.
"Maybe give this guy a chance.. He has been successful wherever he has been. "
