Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has instructed Arsenal fans to ‘keep going’ at Gary Neville as supporters attempt to take the Manchester United icon off the air.
The former Red Devils defender got involved in a hilarious exchange with Gunners’ supporters over the weekend after his former side were defeated 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium. A tweet appeared from one fan account saying: “Like this tweet if you would sign a petition to have @GNev2 banned from commentating on Arsenal games.”
Neville then responded by claiming that he would be tempted to join in with the petition but disputed the fact that he was being biassed with his commentary. In a quote-tweet, Neville wrote: “I will sign it! Thought I was fair yesterday [Sunday] as well,” alongside a crying laughing emoji.
His punditry partner Jamie Carragher has now given his take on the petition and advised Arsenal fans to keep sending criticism Neville’s way. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, he said: “Keep going at him, Arsenal fans!
“You’re really getting to him on social media. Keep going at him.”
Neville looked set to endure the wrath of Arsenal fans once more during an earlier chat with Carragher after the two were asked to give their predictions for the second-half of the 2022/23 Premier League season. The Red Devils’ icon claimed that Mikel Arteta would be his manager of the season despite predicting the Gunners to fall out of contention for the title throughout the remainder of the campaign.

He added: “The reason why he is Manager of the Year if he finishes third, second or first is because at the end of the last season I thought he was in significant trouble.
“Third, second or first… I would say that is still a great season,” Neville added. “I know Arsenal fans from this position and maybe even Mikel Arteta would say that would be disappointing – but it would be a great season. It would be.”
The Gunners now sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand having overcome the Red Devils’ 3-2 on Sunday. However, they now have a near two-week wait for their next league game with league action set to be paused for the FA Cup.
Arsenal face a tough examination as they come up against title rivals Manchester City in the fourth round of the competition at the Etihad Stadium. Following that, they then take on struggling Everton who will hope to have a new manager in position at Goodison Park following the decision to sack Frank Lampard on Monday.
Arsenal have not won any of their last four trips to Merseyside to face the Toffees having been on the end of a 2-1 defeat last term. They were however victorious in the prior meeting between the two sides having ran-out 5-1 victors on the final day of last season.
