After securing their first Premier League win of the season against West Ham United, Everton must now attempt to end their away day Blues at Southampton.
Frank Lampard’s men face Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side with both teams level on seven points from as many matches but as much as the former Chelsea manager has united Everton’s previously-fractured fanbase, which has helped turn Goodison Park into something of a fortress again, it remains obvious that the team need to improve results on their travels.
The Blues have won six of their 13 Premier League home games since Lampard was appointed but the much-celebrated 2-1 success at Leicester City on May 8 remains the solitary success on the road. Everton have failed to win any of their three away games to date this term (losing 2-1 at Aston Villa before earning 1-1 draws at both Brentford and Leeds United), which means the aforementioned triumph at the King Power Stadium is still their only three points away from Goodison in a run of 17 matches stretching back over a year to their 2-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on August 28, 2021.
