Before a wild 2023 NFL free agency period kicks off in earnest, Sunday afternoon saw a massive trade be finalized.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams completed a deal that would send star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins. In exchange, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, L.A. gets a 2023 third-round pick (No. 77 overall) and TE Hunter Long.
As the Rams try to pick up the pieces from a 5-12 campaign, they didn’t have a comfortable amount of salary cap space ($9 million per Over The Cap, at the time of the trade) to keep around high-priced veterans like Ramsey. Meanwhile, the Dolphins — who want to stay afloat in a competitive AFC East division — are acquiring one of the better lockdown boundary corners in the sport.
On Twitter, Ramsey kept his reaction to the reported news brief. He shared an amusing video to show off his hype about moving to South Florida.

Hmm, I wonder if this only merely scratches the surface of Ramsey’s emotions as the next phase of his career awaits him. I’d say … yes.
At age 28, Ramsey gets another shot to play for a playoff-contending team in Miami. I’m sure we’ll hear more from the outspoken defender very soon.
