Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is expected to start against the Cleveland Browns this afternoon. Lawrence suffered a high ankle sprain against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night. The injury looked severe in real time, as many on social media expected the quarterback to miss multiple weeks if not the entire season.
The Jaguars want to see how Lawrence does in pregame warmups before announcing him as the starter. He practiced with the Jaguars’ starters for most of the week heading into the Browns game. The Jaguars signed their practice squad quarterback Nathan Rourke on Friday as their emergency quarterback in case Lawrence and backup quarterback C.J. Beathard cannot play against the Browns.
Remarkably, Lawrence has never missed a game in his college or professional career due to injury. The franchise quarterback spent the entire week aggressively rehabbing his ankle. Lawrence needs to be at full health to take on the Cleveland Browns’ pass rushers. The Browns defense will look to terrorize Lawrence to secure a win. The Browns are 1.5-point favorites against the Jaguars.
