The Jacksonville Jaguars revealed the reason DaVon Hamilton has been out of action is that he’s been dealing with an infection.
“DaVon Hamilton is looking forward to finishing his antibiotics next week and continuing his training here in Jacksonville (while the team is in London),” a team statement read Wednesday. “While doctors are very pleased with his progress, it would be premature to put a timeline on his return.”
Buy Jaguars TicketsLast week, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said that Hamilton is getting closer to a return, telling reporters that the defensive lineman is “on a good track for getting back soon.”
Hamilton, 26, landed on the injured reserve on Aug. 31 after missing time with what the Jaguars, at the time, were calling a “non-football related medical issue” with his back. That ruled the defensive lineman out for the first four weeks of the year and the team doesn’t plan on bringing him to London for a Week 5 return either.
Prior to the infection, Hamilton was impressing in training camp and preseason and signed a three-year, $34.5 million extension with the Jaguars in April.
