Ivan Toney performs classy gesture in support of former Liverpool youngster

Ivan Toney took the opportunity to produce a moving tribute to a former Liverpool prospect on Saturday afternoon.

England international Toney, who narrowly missed out on inclusion in last year's World Cup squad, was on the mark for Brentford against Arsenal, scoring a 74th-minute equaliser to earn the Bees a credible point against the league leaders.

It has been a tough few days for Toney's Brentford team-mmate, Sergi Canos, after his mother passed away earlier this week.

Straight after scoring his goal, Toney ran to the side line with his team-mates before holding aloft a t-shirt with the message 'We are all with you Sergi' written on it, accompanied by a love heart.

Canos has been at Brentford since 2017 but recently went on loan to Greek side Olympiacos. But Liverpool supporters may recall that the Spaniard moved from Barcelona to the Reds' youth academy in 2013, working his way through the ranks at Kirkby.

The 26-year-old would make just one senior appearance under Jurgen Klopp, coming on as a late substitute against West Bromwich Albion in the final match of the 2015-16 season.

Having previously been on loan with Brentford, Canos left Liverpool in June 2016 to move to Norwich City on a permanent deal reportedly worth around £2.5million. He would then sign for the Brentford permanently 12 months later.
