ITV Lorraine under fire for 'completely ruining' Happy Valley after airing 'spoilers'

ITV came under fire from fans over airing Happy Valley "spoilers".

The hit BBC show has become a UK phenomenon as viewers have been gripped by Sally Wainwright's crime drama. The final episode will be broadcast on Sunday as fans are eager to find out how Catherine Cawood's story will draw to an end.

Good Morning Britain and Lorraine Kelly captured the buzz around the finale on Friday's edition of the show. Lorraine was joined by Louise Redknapp who discussed how Sarah Lancashire's character has become a style icon.

She was also joined by Amit Shah, who plays pharmacist, Faisal Bhatti, in the show. Andi Peters warned Lorraine to be careful ahead of the interview as he joked the pharmacist is "always the killer".

Some fans following the shows on Twitter fumed at the Happy Valley coverage for giving away spoilers as they were not yet up to date with the latest episode.

Marc said: "I just want to thank you for giving away a load of spoilers on Happy Valley. We were planning to watch it from season 1, now we know who dies and when and who goes to prison etc etc. great work"

Jan tweeted: "Not even a spoiler alert before Ria completely ruined the last 5 episodes of @happyvalley for anyone who’s saving it for a binge watch"

Diane posted: "Why does GMB have to tell us what's happened in telly shows before we have had a chance to watch the blinking things!?! Stop the stupid reviews if we follow the likes of Happy Valley we don't need them.. Spoiler alerts not needed."

Jerry commented: "No spoilers please...Happy Valley. Only just started watching 1st series last night."

However, some fans hit back at the criticism as the show has been available to watch since 2014.

Howitis345 tweeted: "You have only had nine years to watch it"

Liz added: "Dude. Show started in 2014. You are expecting a TV show nearly a decade later to not mention ancient spoilers?"
