Fans think another twist could be on the cards after emotional scenes turned to a sinister threat in Emmerdale. During Thursday night's trip to the Dales, viewers of the ITV soap saw Kyle Winchester taken away by social services after he confessed to killing Al Chapman to the police.
Cain, Dingle played by Jeff Hordley, took the blame for his son after witnessing the youngster, played by Huey Quinn, accidentally let off a shotgun and kill Al. Initially, fans thought Cain was responsible after facing off with Al over his affair with sister Chas. But a flashback episode later revealed that it was Kyle who was the one to kill off his dad's enemy.
Since then, Cain has done all he can to keep his son out of prison and take the blame for himself. However, Kyle has been struggling to keep his killer secret and simply wanted his dad home from prison. And the arrival of Cain's long-lost brother, Caleb, prompted the schoolboy to come clean and confess.
Then, in heartbreaking scenes aired on Thursday night (January 12), Emmerdale fans saw Moira shocked to see Cain, fresh out of prison. But it came at a price as in heartbreaking scenes, Moira, Amy and the Dingles paid an emotional goodbye to Kyle as the social workers took him away.
Later, in The Woolpack, Cain headed for his first drink since his freedom with his family when Caleb arrived. He was encouraged to thank his sibling, played by Will Ash, as he claimed it was him who used his legal team to speed up Cain's release from behind bars. And Moria and co appeared relieved when Caleb and Cain seemingly buried the hatchet.
However, it wasn't what it appeared to be as during the handshake, Cain pulled Caleb in close and gave him a stark warning. "Walk away while you still can," he muttered before he told him that if he ever saw him again, he would kill him.
But with more drama likely still to come, Emmerdale fans think they have figured out who Caleb really is - or at least narrowed it down to two options. @anne.baines3 said: "There more to Caleb than meets the eye, and I think Cain knows. Glad he’s back."
@elizabeth_odriscoll_ commented: "Reckon Caleb is a cop.. Or some part of the law. Clean cut look." @MisTintehotbabe tweeted: "#Emmerdale Caleb is definitely working with the police some way or some how." @BiffenGlenn commented: "I wonder if Caleb trained as a lawyer and works in Chambers somewhere? #Emmerdale."
@susielavinia1 added: "Caleb a police officer or top lawyer himself . He will make things right Then him and Cain will form a tight brotherly love . Loved the 90s scene with those 2 as youngsters. I love Emmerdale so much. Only soap I watch."
