Coronation Street viewers were in disbelief at Ken Barlow's appearance in tonight's episode.
The character has been played by William Roache since the long-running soap debuted in 1960. Ken remains a vital part of the show and played a key role in the latest episode as he provided advice to his onscreen grandson, Adam Barlow.
Adam's marriage with Sarah Platt is on the rocks after she had an affair with Damon Hay. The two rowed in Monday's show as it seemed their romance was about to come to a dramatic end.

However, this was until Ken stepped in to provide Adam with some advice. Ken said past experience has taught him that he should give Sarah another chance.
He cited his relationship with the iconic Deirdre Barlow, which was so often a source of drama in Weatherfield. Adam listened to his grandad's advice as he decided to give Sarah a second chance.
However, viewers following the show on Twitter were distracted during the scenes in the Rovers Return as they praised William Roache's age defying appearance. The actor recently turned 91 and fans wanted to know the secret behind his youthful appearance.
Tony said: "What is this man’s secret? 91 going on 19!"
Traylor added: "I can’t believe William Roache is 91."
Jeanie tweeted: "He's fabulous #williamroache"
Away from the Cobbles, the legendary actor marked his birthday in daring style as he completed a skydive over the weekend. The footage was broadcast on today's edition of Lorraine, alongside the caption: "Age really is just a number when you're @itvcorrie's Bill Roache (who's 91)... As he proved by jumping out of a plane this weekend!"
