ITV Coronation Street's David Platt corrected after Scouse jibe as Sam Blakeman exits

Coronation Street's David Platt was corrected by fans after a Scouse jibe on tonight's show.

The Boxing Day episode of the long-running soap continued to explore the character's difficult time in the Cobbles as he struggles to maintain control of Max Turner. Max has been groomed by a far right group and left home on the latest episode.

It was an episode of departures as Sam Blakeman prepared to exit Weatherfield with Audrey Roberts. The two are preparing to go on a cruise to see the Northern Lights and are leaving via Liverpool.

Sam is played by proud Merseysider Jude Riordan and the character spoke about his excitement for the trip. He said: "Not just about the Aurora Borealis but I'm also looking forward to seeing the Sami people in Tromsø.

"They're meant to be dead interesting." David was in the room and he couldn't resist a dig as he sarcastically shot back: "You wait until you see the Scouse people in Liverpool. They're interesting people."

Fans following the show on Twitter were in hysterics as they hit back at the sarcastic jibe.

Kimberly said: "Scuse me, David Platt. We are boss"

Louise added: "Scouse people in Liverpool - oh David"
