ITV Coronation Street fans realise where they've seen cocktail barman as they predict Cathy exit twist

Some Coronation Street fans were left scratching their heads during the first trip of the week to Weatherfield as a new character made an appearance. Jim Fizz bounded into the Rovers Return after landlady Jenny Connor hired him for a cocktail masterclass. He had a captive audience in Jenny, barmaid Daisy Midgeley and Evelyn Plummer.

They were also joined by Cathy Matthews who was looking to let off some steam by chatting to her neighbours over a drink after storming out of The Kabin. She told Jenny, Daisy and Evelyn about her partner Brian's unromantic proposal after he once again tried to convince her that they should move to Cornwall.

Cathy already wasn't sold on the idea but has been left even more unconvinced after making a discovery. She revealed to the ladies that she had found letters that had been sent between Brian and his ex, Julie Carp. The character, played by Katy Cavanagh, was the long-lost sister of Eileen Grimshaw and appeared on the famous street from 2008 to 2015.

"To be honest, I don't even know what he's with me," Cathy said. "I found these letters, he'd been writing to Julie Carp. It was a while back when all of that trolling stuff was going on." As her neighbours tried to reassure her nothing was going on, she snapped back: "Answer me this, why is he even writing to her at all?

"He's obviously missed her and in fact, he said so. She even asked him if he'd ever thought of them getting back together." When asked what she said in response, Cathy replied: "I don't know what he replied, it was the last letter I found," to which Daisy said: "What a cliffhanger," upsetting her customer more.

"It's not a cliffhanger, Daisy," she snapped back. "This is my life, you know, Just like with Roy, I could never replace Hayley, could I. I always felt second best, the same thing happening over again."

But she soon didn't have time to chat as Jim was serving up a steady stream of cocktails leaving Cathy heavily under the influence. Later, Evelyn was shocked when she went into the pub’s garden and found a drunk Cathy and Jim sharing a kiss while Brian was not far behind looking for his other half.

And while some were wondering where they recognised Jim from, others had it figured out. Eileen Booth commented on Facebook: "I am sure I know the barman in it tonight. He looks familiar," to which Cheryl Doyle replied: "It's doing mine n hubby's head in tonight, been on Google but nothing?"

But Kate Harris came to the rescue and said: "He's a stand-up comedian/actor called Smug Roberts. He's been in numerous programmes including Mrs Brown's Boys as the bar owner Mr Foley."

And Corrie fans think a twist could be ahead as it has already been confirmed that Cathy will leave the cobbles after actress Melanie Hilly quit the long-running soap. @GeorgiaBowring tweeted: "#Corrie So Cathy will leave the street with this fella!" @CHG3899 said: "Oh no. Cathy isn’t gonna leave with him is she? @itvcorrie #Corrie."
