'Is it true?' - Pep Guardiola tells Manchester United fans to make Man City gesture in Liverpool title race

Pep Guardiola jokingly told Manchester United fans to wear Manchester City shirts today as his side aim to hold off Liverpool and retain the title.

United have struggled throughout this season and are on course for their worst Premier League campaign in history - with their fewest points, fewest wins and most goals conceded in a season guaranteed whatever today’s result in their fixture against Crystal Palace. The pain for fans has been exacerbated by the superb campaigns of both Man City and the Reds. For supporters of United however, it would seem that the majority would prefer Guardiola’s side to win the league over Jurgen Klopp’s men - a Liverpool triumph would see them equal United’s record of 20 domestic title wins.

City are one point clear of Liverpool heading into Sunday’s Premier League finale where they host Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa and Liverpool play Wolves at Anfield and Guardiola made the strange suggestion in the build-up. “So United likes City more than Liverpool?” he told his pre-match press conference.
