The Kansas City Chiefs need all the help they can get to remain undefeated against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Ideally, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be returning after being absent for the Chiefs’ first 5 games this season.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire injury update
Edwards-Helaire was activated from the reserve/non-football illness list Tuesday after being placed on the NFL list in the preseason and missing Kansas City’s season leading up to their Week 6 bye.
He participated in the Chiefs’ practice session on Friday and should be available for Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII re-match against the 49ers.
How long will Clyde Edwards-Helaire be out?
It is unclear if Edwards-Helaire will come off the injury report next week, but he wasn’t limited during Kansas City’s practices this week, so he will be available to play in Week 7.
Chiefs RB depth chart
Though Edwards-Helaire is expected to be available, he could still be designated as inactive for the game if Andy Reid decides to utilize the other running backs at his disposal.
Expect Kansas City to rely on Kareem Hunt, Samaje Perine, and Carson Steele if Edwards-Helaire is designated as inactive against the 49ers.
