Legendary investor Warren Buffett has a long track record of outperforming the S&P 500 and broad stock market indexes. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK) (NYSE:BRK) has fallen behind the S&P 500 in 2025 and risks underperforming for the full year.

What Happened: The Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate owns numerous companies and also holds a substantial investment portfolio, which Buffett and the late Charlie Munger have managed for years.
