Colin Spence believes the first flurry of summer signings at Irvine Meadow can make a real impact next season.
Spence and co-boss James Latta swooped to snap up four new faces this week as they look to conclude their transfer business early.
Striker Kieran Boubekri - a long time target – was unveiled as the club’s latest signing on Tuesday after completing a move from Cumbernauld United.
He follows former Rossvale skipper Ross Urquhart, ex-Hurlford left-back Paul Byrne and former Kilmarnock and Stranraer starlet Ross Smith through the doors at Meadow Park after a whirlwind week of wheeling and dealing.
And Spence insists he couldn’t be happier with the new additions – as he hinted at closing in on deals for another two players.
“We’re delighted with the business we’ve done so far,” he said.
“Kieran had been attracting a lot of interest so we knew we’d be in for a fight for his signature.
“He had a brilliant season at Cumbernauld, scoring 16, 17 goals in a struggling team, which says a lot about his hunger and character.
“He was the best attacking player we faced last season. He was excellent when we played them.
“He’s only 22 with a good pedigree having been full-time at Livingston.”
Spence admits plugging gaps in midfield was a priority and reckons he’s found the right mix of youth and experience in Smith, 18, and Urquhart, 24.
He added: “We’ve been keeping tabs on young Ross for a while now. He started 15 games for Stranraer in League Two last year so we moved very quickly when he became available.
“He’s box-to-box and the type of player who can light up a game.
“Ross Urquhart was another player who impressed us last season. He knows what it’s all about to play at this level so it’s another great addition for us.”
Scottish Junior Cup winner Byrne, 30, will bolster Medda’s backline and Spence admitted: “Left back has been a hard position to fill but Paul fits the bill with his quality and experience.
“We’re still searching for a centre-half and hopefully we’ll have news on that front soon.”
