Met Eireann has listed the areas nationwide that are facing lashings of rain this week while others will enjoy a calm a few days with milder conditions on the way.
It’ll be mostly cloudy for the rest of the afternoon and evening on Monday with some light rain or drizzle in places, but many areas will be dry too.
The highest temperatures will range from 7 to 10 degrees with moderate southwest winds, freshening in the far west and northwest.

It’ll continue to be cloudy tonight with patches of drizzle to start. The rain will develop in the north and west early on, tracking southeastwards across the country overnight, but amounts will be small in most areas.
Some clear spells and showers will follow later with lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with freshening west to southwest winds, becoming strong in the far northwest and west.
Tuesday will be cool and breezy tomorrow with sunny spells for most however, there will be scattered showers in north Connacht and Ulster while it remains mainly dry elsewhere.
Tuesday night will feature clear spells and showers, mainly affecting the north and west, merging to longer spells of rain there with a chance of hail.
Wednesday will be breezy at first with showers becoming widespread over the northern half of the country through the morning.
The showers and winds will ease through the day though clouds will build from the west with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle following.
Wednesday night will see a good deal of cloud with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, most persistent in northern areas. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees are expected in mostly moderate west to southwest winds with some mist and hill fog developing.
Thursday will be largely cloudy at first with just occasional bright or sunny spells. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will become more isolated from later in the afternoon with more in the way of sunny spells developing.
Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees are due in moderate west to southwest winds and it will be largely dry overnight though with isolated patches of light rain and drizzle.
Friday will feature a mix of cloud and sunny spells with patchy light rain and drizzle. The highest temperatures will range from 10 to 12 degrees in moderate southwest winds, freshening in the west later.
As for the weekend, the forecaster says: “Current indications suggest that it'll turn colder through Saturday as outbreaks of rain move southeastwards over the country with a largely dry day for Sunday with just some patchy light rain or drizzle at times”.
