Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecast cold snap and sunny spells before conditions take a turn for the worst

Ireland is set for a cold morning, but things will brighten up as the day continues before wet and windy weather returns as night falls.

Met Eireann has predicted a mainly bright end to the week with conditions remaining bright, with sunny spells and just a few scattered showers. However, as the weekend arrives, the weather will take a turn.

The north and northwest will see the worst of the rain as it spreads southwards, easing off as it makes its way across the country.

A forecaster has said: "It will clear tomorrow morning with some bright spells in the South and East but rain will push into the Northeast later tomorrow evening and move down across the country tomorrow night."
