Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans fail to reach agreement in family court custody battle

Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans appeared to have failed to reach an agreement in their battle for custody of their two children.

The acting pair, who share Ella, 12, and Elsie, eight, separated in January 2021 following 13 years of marriage.

In July, meanwhile, Hornblower star Ioan, 48, filed for joint custody, whilst asking for visitation rights to see the youngsters amid his split from Alice, 54.

Now, publicly available court documents show the couple have failed to reach an agreement - despite the help of a mediator.

It adds, that after failing to reach an agreement on 31 August, the former couple have another appointment alongside the mediator on October 11 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles.

According to the Mail, the Superior Court of Los Angeles states of the program that: 'Parents are required by law to attend a mediation orientation/parent education program and a mediation session prior to appearing at an Order to Show Cause or Trial regarding the custody and/or visitation of their children.'

Earlier this month Alice revealed that Ioan had been granted a three-year restraining order against her. The order also bans her from mentioning Ioan on social media for the same time period following her rants aimed at him and his new beau, actress Bianca Wallace.

Since the former couple announced their split, Alice had often used both Instagram and Twitter to make a number of allegations about her ex and share updates on their ongoing divorce with her followers.

A hearing took place on Tuesday August 2 at the Superior Court of California's Family Division to grant the restraining order that demanded Alice not make any more social media posts on any account "including but not limited to Instagram and Twitter accounts, disparaging or harassing [Ioan] or the other protected person".

The Vampire Diaries actress - who was a no-show at the hearing - has since wiped all traces of her ex from her Instagram account.

The order will expire on August 2, 2025 and the document states Alice must be "personally 'served' (given) a copy of the order".

The documents also claimed that Alice continued to cause her ex-husband issues and he wanted additional provisions added to the existing restraining order.

It demanded that Alice not make any more social media posts on any account "including but not limited to Instagram and Twitter accounts, disparaging or harassing [Ioan] or the other protected person".

The document also requested that Alice should not post his text messages or any communications between himself and his children on any social media account.

Ioan also requested the judge order Alice not to contact his employer or make negative statements about him to his employers.

Mirror Online has invited both Ioan and Alice to comment.
