Interception, blocked punt, offensive explosion highlights Jets strong first quarter

The Jets have given their fans an early Christmas present with an explosive first quarter. Everything seemed to go the Jets’ way as New York exploded to a 17-0 lead before the first quarter even reached the halfway point.

Tony Adams began the party with an interception of Commanders quarterback Sam Howell on the second play from scrimmage.

After the Jets kicked a field goal to take an early 3-0 lead, Jermaine Johnson gave the Jets excellent field position with a blocked punt. The Jets took full advantage as wide receiver Jason Brownlee scored his first career touchdown as the Jets took a 10-0 lead.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Breece Hall broke through for a 37-yard touchdown run. Not even six minutes into the game and the Jets were up 17-0.

The Jets needed something positive after last week’s disaster in Miami. This was about as positive as it can get.

Even in the second quarter, the special teams made noise again as Ashtyn Davis recovered a punt return fumble by former Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder.
