Inside the cottage for sale with a deer park on its doorstep

A historic cottage has gone up for sale in the heart of Dunham Massey village in Trafford. The Grade II-listed property is just a stone's throw away from The National Trust park, with its green oasis, stately home, and ancient wild deer park.

The pretty cottage, originally built in 1725, has a cobbled driveway and comes with its own large, secluded back garden. Close to the A56, it's worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Manchester, but within easy commuting distance of the city.

Also nearby to Hale village and Altrincham town centre, the extended detached home is on the market for £700,000 - albeit reduced this week - and is made up of three main reception rooms and three double bedrooms.

There are also two bathrooms - one with a free-standing bath, and also a separate toilet and utility room adjoined to the kitchen. Once inside, the entrance hallway leads to a living room and a reception room on either side.

The cosy living rooms boast wooden beamed ceilings and feature fireplaces, with traditional decor. The large kitchen, which makes up the extension, is in keeping with the rest of the property and comes with a traditional Aga and country-style cream cabinets.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has its own en-suite shower room, while there is a separate family bathroom. Although the owners have retained its period charm, the home has been modernised throughout.

Marketing the 1700 sq ft property on Woodhouse Lane, estate agents Gascoigne Halman say: "A substantially extended and fully refurbished, 18th Century, detached cottage in a highly desirable semi-rural location in Dunham Massey with views over open countryside. The cottage is fully modernised throughout and yet has retained its original character and charm.

"The rear garden is very private with an extensive lawned area, mature shrubbery and flower beds and there are two off-road parking spaces". Dunham Massey Hall and Gardens, located just minutes away from the property, is one of the region's gems - with a wealth of woodland walks and one of the country's finest Winter Gardens.

The historic estate, formerly home to the aristocratic grey family, is home to majestic fallow deer, owls and woodpeckers.
