Phillip Schofield has been holed up in Cornwall following his fall from grace after his affair with a much younger male This Morning colleague was exposed last month.
The fallen ITV presenter, 61, has been spotted for the first time in a month as he broke cover for his mum's birthday.
Meanwhile, his former friend and ex co-star Holly Willoughby has appeared to have found her 'spark' again as she has been in high spirits alongside co-host Dermot O'Leary on This Morning in recent days.
After Holly, 42, insisted that she knew nothing about Phillip's affair with the young runner, she said she felt 'deeply hurt' and 'let down' by Phillip's lies.
During his tell-all interview with BBC One, Phillip consequently revealed that Holly had ignored his grovelling apology text - a move which signalled the end of their 15-year friendship.
After keeping an incredibly low profile since the bombshell revelation of his affair, Phillip was seen this week looking glum and downcast in Cornwall with his mum.
The former This Morning star donned a casual blue T-shirt and white linen shorts as he appeared far from happy.
Phillip, 61, clutched his car keys, mobile phone and vape as he was spotted in a car park.
It is understood he was in Cornwall to celebrate his mum Pat's 87th birthday.
After Phillip presented his final This Morning show last month, he went to visit his mum as they were seen on a bench in Newquay, Cornwall with the presenter putting his arm around his 87-year-old mother and held her hand.
Phillip and Pat drove from her house to their favourite fish and chip shop in the town centre where the enjoyed a meal before visiting Pentire Headland.
Phillip had driven from London to support his mother as his brother Timothy was being sentenced on that Friday for child-sex offences.
His new public appearance comes after he admitted to being scared to go out.
In a series of bombshell interviews, Phillip revealed the impact it has had on his mental health.
The presenter said: "I do not know a time I will be able to walk out of the door.
“I don’t have any spirit. My friends tell me, ‘It will get better’. It won’t. Not now. Not this one.
Phillip admitted he has never suffered any abuse in public before, but now fears he will be shouted at or spat on.
“Are they spitting on me because I had an affair at work and lied about it?," he told The Sun.
While Phillip has kept a low profile, Holly has been in high spirits while presenting This Morning without her former co-host.
Holly returned to the famous This Morning couch earlier this month on June 5 after a number of weeks away from the drama which ensued surrounding Phillip's exposed affair.
The TV presenter then released a statement insisting that she felt 'let down' by Phillip, adding that she knew nothing about his affair with the young This Morning colleague, and upon her return to the show on June 5, Holly seemed downcast as the addressed the nation for the first time after Phil's resignation.
In recent weeks, eagle-eyed This Morning viewers have pointed out Holly has seemed 'inward' and 'quiet', however, as she opened the show on Tuesday alongside Dermot, fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on Holly's demeanor as they noticed she is now 'giggling' and 'giddy' again.
"Holly finally seems back to herself. She's not stopped giggling with Dermot," one viewer tweeted.
"Awhh after all that has happened the past couple of weeks Holly seems happy again. I love her and Dermot together," another echoed.
While another tweeted: "Anyone notice that Holly seems to be in such a better mood this week! It's so nice to see."
Phillip resigned from ITV in May and was dropped by his talent agency, YMU, after admitting having an 'unwise, but not illegal' relationship with a younger male colleague.
The veteran broadcaster later admitted lying to ITV colleagues saying he did it to protect the man he had an affair with.
