Inside Martine McCutcheon's incredible weight loss journey after ditching 'crazy diets'

Martine McCutcheon's incredible weight loss journey has stunned her fans, and the actress confessed she’s finally comfortable with her body.

The former EastEnders star suffers from a number of invisible health conditions, including Lyme disease, chronic ME and fibromyalgia, and Martine has worked hard to figure out what is best for her body - and overall health.

In 2021, she spoke about losing weight on The Cambridge Diet Plan, which involves eating calorie-controlled foods, but the mum-of-one said last month she’s ditched the “crazy diets” and is now doing “what works for me”.

“It's taken me such a long time to look through all the stuff that’s out there, and just do what works for me,” she told Love Sunday magazine.

“So it's not as simple as just going on a crazy diet. I just feel like it's really important to encourage women to just be the best version of themselves,” Martine shared.

The actress, who gave birth to son Rafferty in 2015, said she now follows an “80/20” rule, and will stick to healthy foods and proteins during the week.

Martine eats plenty of vegetables and fruit, as well as organic vegetable juices, but confessed she is happy to indulge when she’s in the mood.

“I’ll have treats 20 per cent of the time - I’ll have that slice of pizza, chocolate or a G&T to celebrate a friend’s birthday,” she shared.

In 2017, Martine spoke about losing more than 21 inches from her body while on The Cambridge Diet Plan, and said she wanted to overhaul her lifestyle in an effort to get her health conditions under control.

The actress took a steady approach to shedding the pounds after having son Rafferty, and she wanted to “feel healthy again” without doing anything too “drastic”.

Martine worked with a consultant while on the diet plan, and she needed to maintain a slow and steady weight loss due to her Lyme disease, which she said “played havoc” with her body.

“My loss was a tiny bit slower than the average person but to be honest I expected that as many diets/food plans didn't work for me at all,” she told Hello!

In December, Martine spoke about her shrinking frame, and said she was proud of her body as it had been through a lot in the last few years.

“It took me a long time for me to become a mother with a lot of obstacles. My body went through a lot of changes as a result. Women's bodies are complex and sensitive,” she explained.

Now, Martine has managed to keep the pounds off while living with her chronic health conditions, and said she begins to feel ill if she’s not been taking care of herself properly.

“When I get symptoms or when my body starts clanging, it's a sign for me to pace myself, rest,” she told Hello!

She shot to fame as Tiffany Mitchell in EastEnders in the 1990s (BBC)

The former singer looks completely different to her days as Tiffany Mitchell on EastEnders, and since overhauling her lifestyle, Martine has been signed by prestigious modelling agency Elite.

She’s also regularly praised by her fans and followers on social media, who are gobsmacked by her transformation.

“You look the best you've ever looked!” one stunned follower commented on one of Martine’s recent show-stopping snaps.

“You are a beautiful girl and you look amazing,” another added.
