INDORE: Indore election office, amid scrutiny, on Monday rejected 12 candidates including one contesting on Congress party’s ticket from Ward 65.
“Congress candidate Gopal Kodwani, who had filed nomination from Ward 65, had furnished a caste certificate that was issued by name of Gopichand Kodwani and therefore, the returning officer has rejected it,” ADM Rajesh Rathore said, adding that nomination of 11 other candidates have been rejected after the certificates were found to be invalid as per the rules.
Kodwani said that he will approach the court against returning officer Manish Singh’s decision. Congress city president Vinay Bakliwal did not respond to the phone calls for his comment.
