INDORE: The Indore election office has arranged around 14,000 EVMs in case the number of candidates contesting on the mayoral and corporator posts crosses the limit of 15 names including NOTA on the ballot unit.
Senior election officer and master trainer RK Pandey said that a ballot unit can accommodate names of 14 candidates and the option of None of The Above (NOTA).
“In case, the number of candidates contesting from a ward or on the mayoral post crosses the count of 14, the number of ballot units will be increased to accommodate the remaining,” he added
He added that apart from the mayoral post, there are a total seven wards, from where, more than 14 candidates have filed nomination.
“However, only one control unit will be required at all the polling booths for two sets of ballot units including that for mayoral and corporator post,” he said.
Pandey said that the election office has around 3,500 control and around threefold ballot units- sufficient to hold the civic body polls.
Indore election office has erected a total 2,250 polling booths to cover all around 18.35 lakh voters. In case, the number of candidates on mayoral post cross to 14, a total 4,500 ballot units will be required to accommodate all of them.
