With the Indianapolis Colts Week 6 win over the Tennessee Titans now behind us, we have snap count figures from the game. So, what stood out?
Six games into the NFL season, there admittedly isn’t as much that we can glean from these figures compared to the first few games of the year when playing time and rotations were being established.
For the most part, that has been fairly defined at this stage. However, there are still a few observations to take note of.

Quick takeaways
– With Ryan Kelly back to begin this game and Will Fries on IR, the Colts opted to have Dalton Tucker start at right guard and not slide Tanor Bortolini over. Bortolini ended up stepping in at center when Kelly left late with a calf injury.
– Trey Sermon is the backup running back, so it’s not surprising that he out-snapped Tyler Goodson, but given how Goodson has looked with the ball in his hands, perhaps moving forward more opportunities should be built in for Goodson.
– Drew Ogletree has out-snapped Kylen Granson in each of the last two games. It’ll be interesting to see if this is a trend or if it’s taking place with Joe Flacco as the quarterback with the Colts opting for a more heavy blocking presence around him.
– Very impressive that Michael Pittman was able to play 56 snaps and make a big impact. Less than a week ago, there were reports that he could end up on injured reserve.

Quick Takeaways
– As expected once the team moved on from Dallis Flowers, and with Sam Womack’s play, there wasn’t a rotation this week. Womack took all of the boundary cornerback snaps opposite of Jaylon Jones when the defense was in nickel.
– Jaylon Carlies playing 20 snaps tells us the Colts lined up in their base 4-3 defense fairly often, which isn’t a surprise against the Titans who wanted to get things going in the run game.
– I still find it interesting–we’ll say that–that Taven Bryan will out-snap Raekwon Davis when teams want to run the ball and are having success doing so.
