NEW DELHI: Rain played spoilsport and came in the way of India's ambition of clean-sweeping the two-match Test series and starting the new World Test Championship cycle with a hundred percent record on Monday. The Rohit Sharma led Indian team will now aim to continue their dominance in the shorter format, with the three-match ODI series starting on Thursday, July 27. With the ODI World Cup later this year, it will serve as crucial match practice for the Indian players and will also give the team management and the selectors the chance to keep a close eye on the WC probables.
Again, on paper the series looks like a mismatch, with India ranked third in the world and the West Indies at tenth spot. The hosts, who failed to qualify for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, need to put up a good fight against the mighty Team India, who haven’t lost an ODI series against the Windies since 2006, to uplift their fans at home.
