India's apex medical research body releases diet plan for all age groups

The new dietary guidelines for Indians emphasizes on consuming fruits, nuts and seeds, eggs and meat. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) have released the recommendations. A group of 17 comprehensive recommendations has been created by a diverse team of specialists under the guidance of Dr. Hemalatha R, Director of ICMR-NIN.

‘My Plate for the Day’ recommends consuming macronutrients and micronutrients from a minimum of eight food groups, with vegetables, fruits, green leafy vegetables, roots and tubers forming essentially half the plate of the recommended foods per day.
