Inbetweeners cast to reunite for Comic Con North East - but one big star is missing

The stars of the Inbetweeners are reuniting for northern fans at Comic Con North East, but so far, one big name is missing. Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas have so far signed up to appear at the convention in May.

The trio, who played Will, Neil and Simon in the BAFTA-award-winning sitcom, will all appear on Saturday, May 27. They will be available for autographs and photographs with fans and a Q&A panel.

Many fans have expressed their hope that fellow Inbetweeners star James Buckley, who played Jay in the show, will also appear. Organisers are making regular announcements as the event nears, so it is not impossible that the star will join the line-up.

The actors initially got back together for an Inbetweeners special in 2019 called Fwends Reunited. The chat-show special, hosted by Jimmy Carr, was panned by fans and subsequently, Buckley admitted that it was a “disastrous” reunion that made him look “like an idiot”.

Speaking on his podcast, Completed It Mate, in 2019, the actor said: “It became a thing that wasn't a celebration of this good thing I did in my life, it was me being taken the p*** out of for hours on end. I didn't have the personality or the intelligence to cope with it, especially when you’re up against someone like Jimmy Carr, who's super quick and super funny. So I come across as a complete moron through the whole thing."

Fans were thrilled with the announcement, with many hoping that James will be added too. Referencing one of the show’s iconic lines, one fan said: “Ooooooohhh Comic Con friends”.

Another said: “Brilliant news. If James was coming too then yes, it would definitely be worth making the trip for this.” A third added: “Amazing, I can get my Inbetweeners poster signed”.

Other guests appearing at the event include James Marsters and Juliet Landau who played Spike and Drusilla in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Nick Frost, who played starring roles in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy alongside Simon Pegg. Tickets for the two-day event at the Utilita Arena are available now.

Standard weekend tickets currently cost £49.50, while individual day tickets cost £27.50, with additional booking fees. Tickets for autographs or photographs start at £35 with the most popular guests commanding bigger price points.
