Arsenal icon Ian Wright was left questioning Martin Odegaard’s finishing after the Norwegian passed up a golden chance against Liverpool. Despite managing to match the Reds for large swaths of the game, they eventually sealed three points with two second-half goals.
Both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino found the net for the visitors as Jurgen Klopp’s men boosted their hopes of challenging for the Premier League title. The Gunners might actually have been ahead before Liverpool claimed the lead though.
Alexandre Lacazette had a wonderful opportunity as he latched onto Thiago Alcantara’s poor pass. He teed up Odegaard but the Norwegian could not convert as he only served to find the midriff of Reds’ goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Wright was critical of the midfielder’s decision-making, suggesting that he should have found the back of the net.
Speaking with Premier League Productions, the 58-year-old said: "It was the moment they had to take. Lacazette has done very well to get it and hold it up for Martin Odegaard.
"He has just blasted it really, can he be a bit more composed, maybe slot it somewhere, take a touch and slot it around to the right? He just smashes his foot through it.
"To be honest, you have got to give credit on the save but those chances in those moments you have to take."
The poor finish was certainly uncharacteristic of Odegaard, having previously displayed a keen eye for goal since completing a permanent move from Real Madrid in the summer. He has five goals and four assists to his name so far this season and has garnered plenty of praise.
Speaking about the 23-year-old’s signing and subsequent displays, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “He wanted to be part of the project. Since then he is getting better and better, and I am not surprised.
"The way he lives his profession, the way he likes to play football and everything he does is to become better. He has still a big margin. He wants it probably more than anyone else on that pitch, every single day. He will be top top."
