Ian McCall provides positive Partick Thistle injury update after Kevin Holt scare at Pittodrie

Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall has allayed fears over a long-term injury for Kevin Holt.

The Jags boss was left fearing the worst for his defender who was stretchered off in the midweek 4-1 Premier Sports Cup quarter-final loss to Aberdeen. But ahead of Partick Thistle's match against Queen's Park at Firhill as they look to remain top of the Championship, McCall provided a detailed injury update on a number of players.

He said: "We are pretty hopeful it is not a bad one and it might only be 2-6 weeks (for Kevin Holt). Even that is too long, It was a freak incident. Him and Ross Docherty just bundle into each other but our doctors are quite sure it isn't an ACL, which is what you worry about. Aaron Muirhead is fine. He needs an injection but he will play the next few games. Ross Docherty's a bit sore but we hope he will be ok.

"There are just no gimmes. I was maybe a bit harsh on the players after the Hamilton game. I thought they were in a false position and then after that Accies went to Inverness and beat them.

"We beat Morton by five, then they go and beat Queen’s Park and beat Hamilton by five. There are just no gimmes. We have been really, really strong at home. We have played nine games, won seven and drawn two – and it could have quite easily been nine out of nine.

"It’s a really big week for us. If we can get through it with a decent points total, then we can begin to have a normal month again."
