When you're choosing a name for your baby, there are so many things you'll consider. You want to give your child a name that you love, but you might not want to opt for one that sounds too much like anything else, such as an animal's name. This has been the case for one woman, as the mum-to-be was concerned that the name she had chosen sounded like a popular family pet name.
She took to Reddit to ask people's opinions on the name she had chosen for a boy - Otis. She wrote: "What does the name Otis make you think of? Is it a dog/cat name to you? What would you think if someone introduced you to their baby called Otis?

"Especially keen for answers from UK-based name nerds (in case the answer varies in different countries!) so please say if you're from the UK in your comment."
Some people were complimentary about the name, saying: "It’s a very lovely human name to me."
"UK nerd here. It's a human name to me", another assured the original poster.
Someone else wrote: "Both…it’s a human name that’s also good for dogs and cats. But my pet naming tastes are for various media characters and human names…I don’t really care for 'pet' names anyway."
"It’s on my list of boys names. I love it and definitely a human name. Although there’s a lot of crossover with human/pet names nowadays", one pointed out.
One Redditor said that the name reminded them of an aardvark, writing: "English here, 35. Otis is an Aardvark to my generation", then they proceeded to send a link to the google page for the aardvark puppet who was a presenter on Children's BBC on British television.
"Makes me think of the character from Sex Education", someone added.
"This name should be given to lifts/escalators", one bluntly wrote.
