People love to head to TikTok to share their skin tips or showcase products they think should be part of everyone’s self-care routine. One skincare product that went viral on the app caught my attention because of its main ingredient.
CORSX’s Power Essence is made out of 96% snail mucin filtrate. That’s right - snail secretion.
The product has been used by celebrities such as Emily Ratajkowski, and #SnailMucin has over 1 billion views on TikTok.

At first I was really put off at the thought of rubbing snail slime on my face, but this isn’t a new thing. Many beauty lovers have been using snail mucin for years as it’s believed to give the skin a natural flow from the inside and is a staple in Korean Beauty routines.
CORSX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is enriched with 96.3% skin boosting ingredient snail secretion filtrate, which is a lightweight essence. This essence is created from nutritious, low stimulation filtered snail mucin to keep your skin moisturised and illuminated all day.
The product is said to repair and soothe red, sensitive skin after breakouts by replenishing moisture. It also helps fade dark spots, improves skin texture, targets dull and rough skin, and soothes damaged skin.
The 100ml product costs £22.75 on Beauty Bay, where it has just shy of a five star review. I feel like the price for this product is fair and it would last quite some time as you don’t need to use too much of the product.
I was worried there was going to be a smell when I pumped the liquid onto my hands, however I was pleasantly surprised that the product wasn’t fragrant whatsoever.
The consistency of the product is definitely slimy, but once put on the skin it felt super hydrated almost instantly.
My skin type is normal to dry, and it is quite sensitive so I found this definitely match my requirements, but I wasn’t sure if this was something that needs to be in my skincare routine.
However, I did give it to my boyfriend’s mum to test out and she saw other benefits to it with her skin type than I did.
She says she finds some creams too heavy for her skin which often causes her to break out. When she used this gel, her skin felt nourished and hydrated and didn’t cause any breakouts due to it being such a lightweight product.
After long term use of the product, I could definitely see how it would improve skin elasticity and skin texture.
While this product is suitable for all skin types, I would recommend it to someone who needs a lightweight moisturiser or to someone looking to repair and soothe their skin.
