It’s not every day you get to have your dinner in place loved by an award winning actress.
However, Jodie Comer offered me that opportunity by listing some of her favourite Liverpool hangouts in Vogue. When asked for her favourite coffee shop, she recommended Bold Street Coffee.
Jodie said: “Best coffee in town in my humble opinion.” I was aware of Bold Street Coffee’s proud reputation but I had not had the chance to visit until now.

As you soon as you step into the coffee shop, located at the top of Bold Street near St Luke’s Bombed Out Church, you understand why it’s so popular. There is a relaxing atmosphere, with expensive art adorning the walls.
The menu was equally impressive. I opted for a Guest Espresso, which on this day was sourced from Costa Rica.
There was a wide range of brunch and sandwich options on the food side too. I would have liked to try one of their bigger breakfasts if I had more time, but the Chicken Katsu Club sandwich seemed like a quick and filling alternative.
The service was incredibly efficient. I was soon enjoying the warmth of my Espresso, made all the better by the wet weather I had endured while interviewing Aintree racegoers in the morning.
The butty meanwhile was delicious. I don’t often see chicken katsu as a sandwich option but after eating this I don’t understand why.
All this came in at £11, a price I was happy with given the high praise this establishment has received. Jodie Comer has not just thrilled viewers with her incredible performances in Killing Eve and Help - she has also given a solid recommendation.
I’m sure her other recommended trips in her hometown will also be of the highest quality.
