Burger King on Lord Street in Liverpool city centre closed suddenly back in December 2018, and now it is finally back.
The venue has returned with a brand new look, including 'updated signage' with a full refurbishment inside. Having been closed for a whopping four years, I had to go and see how it looked (and tasted) for myself.
The newly refurbished venue features silver signage outside, as well as new seating areas with wooden countertops and colourful stools. There’s even a ‘collect’ station where customers can pick up their food after placing their order.

As I stepped foot into Burger King with a rumbling stomach, I was a little put off by how busy it was. Of course, it's fantastic that the new snazzy venue was buzzing and filled with customers, but I was hungry and I didn't want to wait long.
I was pretty impressed with the self-service which I've only ever seen at McDonald's, which made the ordering process fast despite the queues being long. There were a fair self-service stations, which really helped keep the queues of loyal BK fans move quickly.
I went for the bacon double cheeseburger with a side of fries for my meal and a cherry coke zero to wash it all down. My bill came to £7.99, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be if I'm being honest.
After making my order, I shuffled over to two different queues which were a little chaotic. It seemed that the majority of visitors had opted for the self-service option, leaving others who wanted to use the till confused where to stand.
The atmosphere was generally buzzing, with plenty of happy burger lovers tucking into their food, despite the vast amount of customers. To be completely honest, the staff actually looked quite bored waiting for customers with the popularity of the self-service station taking over.
There was a slight mishap with the order screen, as some order numbers were coming up as ready to collect then disappearing straight afterwards. The staff resulted to shouting the numbers and the problem was resolved swiftly.
In total, I waited around seven minutes to get my hands on my meal. I'd say that's pretty impressive considering how busy it was.
But was the Burger King up to temperature standards? Because let's be honest, there's nothing worse than waiting for a burger to discover its horribly lukewarm and soggy.
The newly refurbed Burger King did in fact pass the temperature test, my fries were piping hot with just the right amount of salt, and my burger was just right. I sat myself down on one of the taller tables, which comes with a power port - ideal for those out on a lunch break wanting to check on some emails or scroll through TikTok.
My burger tasted frame-grilled and delicious, as Burger King burger's do, and it was a real treat to have whilst I was in town. The venue looked fresh, modern, new and clean - a rarity for some fast food joints.
Let's just hope it stays this way, because this Burger King was impressive.
