'I got dress coded over my poorly fitting trousers - but nothing fits my bum'

A woman has been left outraged after being dress coded at work for wearing trousers that show off her 'giant bum'.

The employee explained how she was called into HR to discuss her choice of clothing after one of her colleagues issued an anonymous complaint.

The woman, who works in marketing, makes sure to wear 'office appropriate' clothing - usually dressing in ankle-length trousers with a blouse and cardigan. She says she wears a skirt every now and then - but feels more confident and comfortable in trousers.

Taking to Reddit, she said: "I was reprimanded today for my choice of pants being 'office inappropriate', but the person went to my manager without giving any detail as to their 'inappropriateness'. My manager didn't understand why the pants were inappropriate and apologised that someone even complained.

"I'm fairly certain that the way the pants fit my lower extremities (i.e. my giant butt and thunder thighs) are the source of complaint."

She went on to explain how she struggles to find trousers that fit her body shape - despite trying countless styles from various retailers.

"I find it very hard to find pants that fit just because of how my body is shaped," she added. "Even more traditional trousers in my size still fit my rear end very tight.

"Other women in my office wear leggings or tight slacks, including those in upper management. Am I being unfairly called out because of my body shape?"

Wanting to know whether she should contest this complaint, she has taken to social media to ask users what they would do in this situation.

She asked: "Have you ever experienced this in a professional work environment? What did you do to work around it or overcome it?

"I'm not sure its worth me rocking the boat over it, but I'm not throwing out my whole wardrobe because someone in HR doesn't like how my butt looks in pants."

In response, one user said: "I'm pretty busty and I've been told that other women have issues with me being in male dominated roles.

"Every single day for my last job I wore khakis or cords, shirt and fleece jacket with mock turtleneck and thumbholes because I'm perpetually cold.

"I got called to HR and they cited 'several people have complained about you wearing revealing clothing'."

Another user added: "My boss threatened my job because I looked like a 'zombie' around the office.

"I had just stopped wearing makeup because I couldn't wear contacts for a month due to an eye issue, and I'm so blind I literally have to get an inch away from the mirror to see my face clearly, which made makeup extremely difficult and tedious to put on.

"There were no rules about makeup in the office, and I'm the only female in my company.

"I was livid. Now I'm back in contacts and I'm still not wearing makeup just to p*** him off, and I love makeup."

A third user said: "In high school, I was among the bustiest girls in school. I would get flagged for 'dress code violations' constantly, even in very reasonable tops."
